Download Kodeline
Downloads are open to everyone whose beta request was approved. Enter the email you used and the personal invite code we sent you, and you get a link to the installer. Come back here for new versions too, unless you have turned on automatic updates in the app.
- No invite code yet? Ask for the beta and when your request is approved we send you one.
- Check what your system needs
We use your email and code only to check your invite. This page never saves them in your browser.
Before you install
What each system needs, and what to expect the first time you open Kodeline.
macOS
.dmg- System
- macOS 14 Sonoma or later
- Processor
- Apple silicon (M1 or later). Macs with an Intel processor are not supported.
Installing
- Open the .dmg and drag Kodeline into Applications.
- Open Kodeline from Applications.
If macOS says it could not verify Kodeline
The app is not notarized by Apple yet, so the first time you open it macOS warns that it could not verify it is free of malware. Close the warning and allow it once:
- Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to Security and click Open Anyway. Confirm with your password, then click Open.
- You only do this once: updates the app installs by itself do not ask again.
Windows
.msi- System
- Windows 10 or later, 64-bit
- Permissions
- Installs for your user only, so no administrator rights are needed.
Installing
- Open the .msi file and follow the installer.
If Windows shows a warning
SmartScreen does not know the app yet and may say “Windows protected your PC”. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
Linux
.deb- System
- Debian or Ubuntu, 64-bit (x86_64)
- Permissions
- apt asks for your password to install it.
Installing
- Open a terminal in the folder where you saved it and run:
sudo apt install ./file.deb
On every system
Nothing else to install
On macOS Kodeline is a native app; on Windows and Linux, each installer brings the Java runtime it needs. You do not have to install anything else.
Online only when it needs to be
Kodeline goes online to sync with GitHub, GitLab and Jira, to check for new versions and, if you sign in, to reach your Kodeline account. Your screens work from what is already on your computer.
Updates, once you sign in
For automatic updates, sign in under Settings > Kodeline Cloud with the account from your approved request, then turn on Update automatically under Settings > Sync. Without it, Kodeline tells you when a new version is out and you download it here.
